Issues that are related to energy, climate change and environment are the major ones that the whole world focuses on.And since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2016,related documents are published one after another, thus the needs for the translation of such scientific documents keep rising. This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of Energy,Climate Change and the Environment: 2016 Insights(excerpts),which is a publication that is prepared based on the study of the International Energy Agency to achieve the goal in the Paris Agreement to control the increase of global average temperature to be within 2? before industrialization. The source text has about 12,000 words, and was translated by the author of the report independently. In this report, the main ideas of the source text and the significance of the translation task are introduced first. Then the translation process is described.Case analysis is the focus of the report. In this part, some examples are used to show how the translation is guided by Skopos theory and the ideas of translator's subjectivity and how the problems in translation are solved by computer-aided translation(CAT)tools. In the conclusion, professionalism in translation is summarized based on the comparison between the performance of the author(translator)and professional translators.Unsolved problems and limitations are summarized as well.It is hoped that this report offers some value for the translation of similar scientific texts.
