| In the Middle of the 20 t h century, intertextuality was put forward for the first time, and it soon quickly became linguists‘ research focus which was analyzed from various perspectives. But, the analysis of intertextuality in discourse was generally limited to identifying its specific forms, and few people explore the ideologies and social functions of intertextuality in English economic news discourse from the perspective of critical discourse analysis.Based on this, this research adopts Fairclough‘s three-dimensional analysis framework as the main theoretical foundation to make an analysis of the 40 English economic news discourses on bitcoin chosen from Wall Street Journal, among which qualitative and quantitative analysis will be used. The research is going to discuss the following questions:(1) What types of intertextuality are there in English economic news discourse?(2) What are the ideologies of intertextuality in English economic news discourse?(3) What are the social functions of intertextuality in English economic news discourse? Exactly speaking, after summarizing the prominent specific intertextuality and generic intertextuality, this research combines the relation between discourse, ideology and power to find out the hidden ideologies and social functions.After research, we find that reference, quotation, cliché, allusion and irony are the main intertextuality in English economic news discourse. Among which reference, quotation and cliché are most used, however, allusion and irony are equipped relatively few. Genre intertextuality is manifested in the mixture of genres and in the mixture of discourse modalities. Besides, we conclude that intertextuality in English economic news discourse reflect certain political tendency, aesthetic sensitivity, discourse power and emotional attitude, and it also embodies social functions of intertextuality, such as responding social problem, revealing social relation and reflecting social context.In summary, this study conducts a research on the ideologies and social functions of intertextuality in discourse with using three-dimensional model. It contributes to helping receiver easier to understand discourse and grasp the intention of the discourse. Meanwhile, it assists to use the right intertextuality to tra nsmit the information and ideology in the process of writing, and it can make further critical understanding on these kind of similar texts as well. |
