A Study On The Vocabulary Of Written Examination Papers And Vocabulary Lists Of Language-specific Syllabus Of IBDP Mandarin Ab Initio Course

This study focuses on the analysis of the vocabulary in written examination papers and vocabulary lists of language-specific syllabus of IBDP Mandarin ab initio course. Through the data analysis and comparison, the characteristics of the quantity of vocabulary, the common vocabulary and the topics based on the common vocabulary are clearly revealed. The result shows that the vocabulary in the written examination papers matches the words at Mandarin ab initio level; the words in the vocabulary lists of language-specific syllabus are too difficult, with words beyond the level and out of the guidance taking the large proportion, about 60%, and the syllabus holds limited guidance for the words chosen of examination papers. At last, practical suggestions for teachers and editors of language-specific syllabus and textbook are proposed.
