The 3/2/1 technique is devised for providing spoken fluency practice for second language learners. In the 3/2/1 technique, learners tell a same story three times to different listeners with one minute reduced for each retell.Based on the previous studies on L2 oral fluency, the present study makes an oral Chinese fluency experiment on four foreign students by using the 3/2/1 technique, and then investigates the effects on one of students who comes from Vietnam by employing fluency indices, including speech rate, articulation rate, phonation / time ratio, mean length of speech run, average length of pause, numbers of repairs per 100 syllables and ratio of pruned length to total length. The findings of the present study proves that the 3/2/1 technique can improve the fluency of oral Chinese, enhance the accuracy of oral expression,and acquire the ability of oral communication.The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part will shows the panorama of this research’s backgrounds and the studies of the L2 oral fluency that discovered by proficients from the domestic and abroad. The second part will discuss the design of the experiment, including the subject, hypotherical problems, research methods, fluency indices, experimental materials, data collection and experimental procedure. Next part will analyze the statistical and draw the conclusion based on the experimental results. In the forth part will present the advantages and disadvantages of the 3/2/1 technique according to the analysis, and then will discuss the enlightenment in Chinese speaking class. The last part is the full thesis summary, further shows that 3/2/1 technique can improve the fluency of oral Language.
