Korean drama was popular in overseas markets, which drove the development of the relevant industries of South Korea and shaped the national image of Korean within the international scope.The huge benefits which bring by exporting of Korean cultural products firmed the determination of south Korean government to support the development of cultural industry vigorously. In 1998, Kim Dae-jung was elected to be the President, and the South Korean government enhanced the strategic value of culture to a strategic height of national development, put forward the "cultural nation" as a national strategic policy and saw the development of cultural industry as an important driving force of this strategy. Then the Korean government formulated the comprehensive regulations on cultural industry, including “the basic law of the cultural industry revitalization”, "copyright law", “the broadcasting act” and other relevant laws and regulations. Within a few years, Korean cultural industry has realized the leap frog development.This paper mainly studies the influence of culture industry policy behind the Korean drama based on the logic of industrial chain. The first chapter mainly introduces research framework and methods of the topic and the research background, research significance, innovation and inadequate of this research. The second chapter describes the definition of cultural industries firstly, and then introduces the evolution of South Korea’s cultural policy, cultural policy support of the government in different periods,which build a good political environment to the development of Korean industry. The third、fourth and fifth chapter reveals the supporting role of cultural policy in each link separately from the upstream, midstream and downstream of industry chain, combined with the analysis of “Man from the Stars”, "Dae Jang Geum" and other popular Korean dramas. The last part of each chapter to describe the relationship among the various industry chain, to pull the whole industry chain to study, which concluded that the author’s view.The sixth chapter compares China drama and South Korea drama,including the following three sections: the first section is a comparison of all aspects in the industry chain about China and South Korea; the second section is the contrast between the industrial policy, the third section is the comparison about development results of Korea dramas and national productions, systematically revealing the loopholes of national productions, which can put forward development proposals fornational productions. The last chapter is the conclusion.Korean dramas entered into China since 1997.This year, the China Central Television broadcast the first south Korean drama called "what is love" and received a warm response from the Chinese audience. Since then, Korean dramas became incredibly popular in China’s TV market. Many Korean dramas of high quality, such as "Dae Jang Geum", "My Name Is Kim Sam-sun" and "Man From the Stars" set off bursts of "Korean wave" in the Chinese market. In contrast, Chinese TV series only can be popular abroad occasionally, but both of quality and quantity about Chinese TV series lags behind Korean dramas. Therefore, learning successful experience from Korean drama industry not only can develop Chinese TV series industry, but also can push Chinese cultural industry development and growth, which will reveal China’s ancient culture and big country image to the world.
