The demand of Chinese teaching materials has been increased along with the rapid popularize Chinese language in foreign countries. This phenomenon also happened in Indonesia that has a lot of Indonesian of Chinese decent and native Indonesian who learn Chinese language yet there are still a lot of Chinese teaching materials that have many problems. That is why through this thesis, author tries to review and do some research about some local teaching Chinese materials. This thesis will focus on doing comparison between two different Chinese teaching materials which are written by Chinese author(Hanyu) and Indonesian author(Advanced Chinese). This research analyzed the characteristic of each teaching material from some aspects such as the objectives that the authors set, content, hanyu pinyin pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, topic selection, cultural knowledge, Chinese characters, exercise and some other aspects objectively. This research also tries to analyze the suitability between the content from both teaching materials with local characteristic.Through the comparison method that is adopted in doing this research, this research ended by a conclusion that both teaching materials are suitable for the characteristic of local students. This can be proved by some different aspects that are possible and easy to be understood and implemented by both local teacher and students such as the objectives and idea of both teaching material, language problem solving(pronunciation, grammar, writing characters and sentence), extra vocabularies which are related to local characteristic that can be found on each lesson, the topics of each lesson and cultural knowledge that make both teaching materials become more interesting.The teaching material which written by foreign author also has the uniqueness that is worth to be learnt and used as reference for Chinese author in writing the teaching material. On the last part of this thesis also attach some input for other Chinese authors who want to create Chinese teaching material for foreign students in the future.
