Lv Opera, a local opera of Shandong, has occupied an important position in China’s opera. The vivid and lifelike operatic language,elegant and delicate tunes and her varied music have appealed to a large audience. Nowadays, Lv Opera is not only the most representative local opera in Shandong,but also one of the Eight Local Operas in China and a national intangible cultural heritage as well.However, with the fast development of modern culture, attacked by the influence of pop music and western music, Lv opera is confronted with the problem of inheritance and development. One of education’s main functions is to inherit good traditional culture, therefore, music education at schools is one of the main tools to sustain and succeed traditional music culture. Yanting School in Weihai has developed and implemented school-based Lv Opera curriculum while taking the advantage of feature school construction and 9-year compulsory education.The paper is a research on the development, implementation and results of school-based Lv Opera curriculum in Yangting School according to the survey to the teachers,students and parents carried out in questionnaires, interviews and literature reviews. Through the data analysis and communication, problems on current situations of school-based Lv Opera curriculum are identified and analyzed and countermeasures are made to facilitate the better inheritance and development of LV opera at schools.According to the research, the introduction of school-based Lv Opera curriculum has played an active role in inheriting of traditional music culture. Nevertheless, some problems are existing in the process of implementation, such as: weak awareness of traditional culture inheritance, inadequate teaching faculty, incomplete teaching material syllabus, and low-efficient teaching methods that need innovation. In order to develop better school-based Lv Opera curriculum, the author has put forward seven countermeasures in the following aspects: strengthening the construction of teaching faculty, developing systematic teaching material syllabus, emphasizing on teaching reformation and research, improving the production of Lv Opera works, sponsoring the society for support and enhancing the community and domestic atmosphere.
