As one of the difficulties in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the prepositional teaching will lead to different types of errors in the process of learning prepositions for foreign students. The analysis on prepositions per se and incorrect analysis on prepositions as well as teaching designs and reflections are necessary. The paper focuses on three Chinese words namely“Xiang(向)”、“Wang(往)”、“Chao(朝)” which are similar in popularity, meaning and usages, and observes and analyze comparatively in terms of syntax and semantics as well as usage. From prospective of syntax and semantics, in general the propositions of “Xiang(向)”and“Chao(朝)” not only mean acts, but also the target of acts. However, the“Wang(往)” only means the direction of acts. From the prospective of usages of prepositions, the paper observes the potential problems caused by these preposition by means of listing relevant conditions. After analysis on syntax and semantics and potential problems, a comparative analysis on three prepositions will be conducted, which involves common and different points as well as relevant conditions among the three Chinese words. building on this, several incorrect types will be summed up in the process of learning these three prepositions and an analysis on the incorrect types and their reasons will be carried out. In the end, teaching design and reflections on problems taking place in the process of teaching will be needed after the research.
