A Research On The Prepositions Of Xiangyin Dialect In Hunan Province From The Perspective Of Typology

On the basis of the field research and literature, this thesis conducts relevantly comprehensive description and analysis on the prepositions of Xiangyin diaclect in Hunan province with general investment method of field research, comparison method, synchronic and diachronic methods,description and explanation method as well as the theory and methods of cognitive linguistics and linguistic typology. Through the inner comparison of Xiang Language and the research on the cross-dialect and cross-language typology, this thesis makes efforts to seek the similarity and difference of the proposition between the Xiangyin dialect and other dialects of Chinese language, points out the typology significance Xiangyin dialect and Chinese language dialect and promotes the understanding for particular language phenomenon relevant with propositions in the Chinese language dialect.The research shows that as a part of Chinese language dialect, the preposition of Xiangyin dialect reflect a certain generality with the preposition of Chinese language dialect or even the human language.Through the typology research of cross-dialect and cross-language, this thesis find that there are also the a chain of grammaticalization from causative verbs to hypothesis conjunction and implication relation between the passive marker and dative marker in Xiangyin dialect.Moreover, as a territorial dialect, Xiangyin dialect shows its personal chapter in the diachronic process of development. Therefore this thesis plays a significant role of dialect typology in digging out the peculiar language phenomenon relevant with the prepositions in Xiangyin dialect.This thesis mainly includes six chapters.In chapter one, this thesis mainly briefly describes the research on the proposition of mandarin and Xiang language and overviews the trend of preposition research and the importance of preposition in Chinese academic field. On this basis, we conclude that the insufficient research fruits of Xiangyin dialect, the essential innovation for research methods and the expansion for research horizon.In chapter two, we conduct detailed description, analysis for the preposed preposition of Xiangyin dialect and its diversity of metafunction.Especially as for the basic preposed preposition“得”in Xiangyin Dialect,we also thought that there are the chain of grammaticalization “delexical verbs‘在’--preposition--aspect marker--modal particle”.In chapter three, this thesis conducts detailed description, analysis for the postpositive preposition preposition of Xiangyin dialect and points out the underdevelopment of postpositive preposition and the instability of Circumpositions in Xiangyin dialect through the comparsion with Wu dialec tand mandarin.In Chapter four, we discuss the diversity of the property of “把”in Xiangyin dialect, analyze the syntax and semantic features of the disposal markers “ 把 ” in detail and think that there are also the grammaticalization path ” causative verbs---hypothetical conjunction ”in Xiangyin dialect. At the same time, we find out the special language phenomenon of “把” and “是”in Xiangyin dialect which can be used as the post-positioned hypothetical conjunction and give full explanation for the source of usage.In chapter five, this thesis introduces in detail the syntax and semantic features of passive markers in Xiangyin dialect and point out the syntax difference between those passive markers. Besides, through the typology research on the cross-dialect language, we are pushed forward to think about the relationship between the disyllable passive markers and dative marker, the disyllable passive markers and the ditransitive construction.In chapter six, this thesis concludes this research and points out the innovation and deficiency of the research and present the outlook for the researches in the future.
