A Report On The C-E Translation Of Commercial Orders

As business contacts between China and other nations in the world have been increasing,people have more and more requirements on the translation of commercial orders. In order to communicate smoothly and reach the goal of trade, Chinese have to translate the Chinese commercial orders into the corresponding English ones for foreigners’ reference. Hence, the translation of commercial orders plays a crucial role during the process of trading and its importance should be highlighted.Commercial orders are a type of commercial practical texts with relatively strong functions and purposes. The functional Skopos theory of translation is different from the traditional belief of equivalence. ItsSkopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule provide a strong theoretical guidance as well as a new perspective for the translation of commercial orders.Taking the translation of commercial orders as examples, the paper mainly talks about the C-E translation strategies and skills of words and sentences in the commercial orders combining the functional Skopos theory of translation. In this report, the author firstly describes about translation tasks briefly. And then the author explains the preparation for translating the commercial orders, which includes theoretical preparation and the analysis about the texts’ content and characteristics.At last, under the guidance of the functional Skopos theory of translation, the author analyzes the specific examples and discusses the translation strategies, hoping to provide some experience and reference for the translators who work on the translation of commercial orders.
