In view of the extensive and profound features of Chinese culture,and the link between countries is increasingly close,China has witnessed an increasing number of foreign tourists.By visiting around different tourist attractions,they get chances to understand the very remote source of Chinese culture and enjoy the beauty of magnificent sceneries,which determine the significance of translation texts.However,due to the differences of language,cognitive structure and values,the inappropriate translation of tourism texts makes foreigners confused when visiting China's cultural attractions.Not only the origin and the connotation of historical sites can't be conveyed correctly,but also ironical and ridiculous jokes are made.As a result,the translation quality of cultural attractions is endowed with heavy burdens,making it an important topic of times significance.Jiangxi province,as a big province of Red Tourism resource,the translation of its cultural attractions deserves better attention of translation scholars.Throughout the domestic and foreign studies of attractions translation,it's not hard to notice that many more scholars conduct analyses on the translation texts from single translation theory,deficiencies are as follows.Their studies lack recommended translation with suggestions and are short of corresponding translation strategies.Besides,the authenticity is unverified because of too much involvement in cases or over-general analysis.Aiming at these deficiencies,the author attempts to select the translation of Jiangxi cultural attractions as examples,based on the theoretical foundation of Skopos theory,analyzing the causes of mistranslation from three aspects,namely pragmatic,cultural and linguistic errors.In addition,the translation strategies are offered on the basis of recommended translation given in the text.The methods that get involved in this thesis include literature research,case analysis,interdisciplinary research and experience summary.There are five parts in this thesis.As the introduction part,the first chapter expounds the research background,purpose and significance.Since the case study of tourism translation is in dire need,this thesis is endowed with practical value.The second part is literature review where the author makes simple explanations about the definition of attractions translation as well as the research status at home and abroad.Chapter three explains the theoretical foundation---Skopos theory.There are three rules contained in it,namely skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,and loyalty rule.Besides,the standard for translation in terms of Skopos theory is included.The main parts of the thesis belong to the fourth and fifth one.In chapter four,under the guidance of Skopos theory,the mistranslations of Jiangxi cultural attractions are analyzed accordingly from cultural,pragmatic and linguistic errors on the basis of three rules,following the recommended translations with suggestions.As for chapter five,the author provides some translation strategies in terms of the analysis.The last part is a conclusion of the major findings and limitations.
