| This report is a summary based on the translation practice of Stories of Annual "Touching China" Award. Touching China presented by the China Central Television, is a spirit-based brand program and has been held for several years continuously. The translation task is to translate the stories of the people concerned and the award address into English as the media presenting the image and spirit of Chinese people for external propaganda. This report is the summarization and introspection of the translation process, which mainly discusses the problems encountered in the translation process and presents the solutions as well as strategies used in the translation. It is divided into three parts as below:Part One firstly is to introduce the determination and meaning of the translation task; secondly to explain the content and influence of the program as well as the source of task and its selection process; and thirdly, to present the stories of the people stated in the translation text.Part Two is to describe the translation process specifically. It is mainly divided into three stages, namely, the pre-preparation, the specific practice process and the proofreading. The first stage collects the data, studies the text content, analyses the literary form and determines the style of translation. The second stage is to introduce the specific translation steps, the translation tools and the translator’s focus thinking process. During the third stage, the translator checks the translation repeatedly and invites other people to correct and improve it.Part Three is the core of the report. The problem-oriented part highlights the practical problems and solutions, selects typical examples for analysis, illustrates the practical application of translation theories and summarizes the translation methods in details, including word selection, sentence restructuring, sentence grouping and others.In conclusion, the translator summarizes the experience and lesson gained from the entire translation process, and represents the enlightenment for future work. |
