| The translation material China to Me describes Emily Hahn’s preparation, thedifficulties before she met before her arrival at Shanghai, and her life there in the1930s. The translation report consists of four parts: task description, translationprocess, case analysis and conclusion. The first part presents the source and thestyle of Hahn’s China to Me. The second part contains three steps: preparationwork such as reading and analysis of the text, the choice of translation strategies, andthe search for auxiliary tools. The third part is the case analysis. With theguidance of translation skills at the level of vocabulary, syntax, discourse, rhetoricand culture, the translator discusses some examples with special attention to thedifficulties and solutions in translation. Finally, the conclusion contains thetranslator’s gains and reflections over the translation which may be of help to thereaders. |
