For interpreters, high quality of interpretation is a constant goal in their careers. During one-year study of MTI program, the writer found that listening comprehension is an important element in interpreting, which largely influences interpreting quality.Chinese listening comprehension is usually ignored by some Chinese learners as most people think it is easy to understand and memorize the content of the native language. After analyzing the simulated interpreting practice of an online program— Golden Time of Innovation Driven Internet, the writer found that Chinese listening comprehension influences the quality of interpretation in every aspect. This thesis analyzes interpreting mistakes in the simulated interpreting practice in terms of listening comprehension and discusses coping strategies, hoping to provide a new angle to improve Chinese-English interpreting and bring benefit to qualities of interpretation.This thesis consists of three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. Its main contents are as follows:The first part is the introduction, including both the domestic and foreign research background and the realistic significance of this thesis.The second part is the main body, which is made up of four chapters:Chapter One mainly introduces the task. It introduces the interpreting material and motivation of the study. It also describes the process of the interpreting task. The difference between listening in interpreting and listening in daily life is summarized and the influence of listening comprehension is explained.Chapter Two introduces the preparation of the task. The preparation includes words preparation, theory preparation and other preparation mainly about familiarity with the program, such as research on parallel texts and the speaker.Chapter Three concentrates on the case analysis. After interpreting, the writer analyzed the interpretation based on the record. The writer found some examples related to listening comprehension and analyzed the reasons for the mistakes. The writer divides the errors into three categories. They are lack of background information, professional knowledge and logical analysis. The writer analyzes the reasons for every mistake and also provides a corrected version of interpretation for each case.Chapter four focuses on coping strategies of listening comprehension barriers. According to some literature and documents, the writer provides methods of improving listening comprehension ability and ways of dealing with psychological tension.The last part is the conclusion. It makes a summary of the whole thesis and points out the main purpose of this thesis, which is to improve the quality of the interpretation. Through the analysis and summary of the whole interpreting process, the author got valuable experience which is very important for the future interpreting work.
