A Report On Simultaneous Interpreting Task For The Documentary China·Porcelain

This report takes the documentary film China·Porcelain as source language material for simultaneous interpreting.Interpreting is an important tool to build the "Babel", shouldering the mission of information transmission. Interpreting is a process that interpreters orally transfer the source language into the target language. Simultaneous interpreting is also known for its more complicated process which need synchronize source language and target language. It contains various subjects like psychology, linguistics and so on; therefore the research of simultaneous interpreting has extended from single subject to trans-subjects.The report mainly includes three parts:introduction, the main body and conclusion. As for the main body, three chapters are divided.Chapter one is about background introduction, depiction of the documentary China Porcelain and preparation for the interpreting task.Chapter two focuses on case analysis, including culture differences, ear-vice-span and syntactic linearity.Chapter three suggests the importance of daily practices and psychological quality of interpreters.The author selected the documentary film China·Porcelain as simultaneous interpreting material. For one thing, it’s helpful to grasp cultural knowledge about China’s porcelain; for another, in the process of searching relevant literature the author also had a deep understanding of relevant interpreting theories, both are helpful to enlarge the author’s knowledge scope. The author could timely find out her own short-comings and insufficient in knowledge by imitating simultaneous interpreting. What’s more, the author could also explore relevant tactics and solutions for these problems.
