The Influence Of Negative Emotion And Emotion Strategies On Facial Expression Recognition Of College Students

Negative emotion refers to a negative emotional experience, often in a state of negative emotions leading individuals uninterested in studying, working. It may also affect people’s normal contacts. As the most important signal that we look to understand the emotions of others, face perception capability right key is whether we can judge the emotions of others. Correctly judging the emotions of others and respond appropriately is critical in interpersonal communication. Are our own negative emotions affect our judgment of others correctly identify facial expressions,do we regulate their own negative emotions and can make changes that affect, Taking it as this article’s starting point, the relevant question for a more thorough discussion.In this study, negative emotions as the main object of study, using experimental methods exploratory whether negative emotions and the regulation of negative emotion for people facial expression recognition impact. The first experiment took a 2(emotional state: negative, neutral) × 3(identification expressions: happy, sad, calm)mixed experimental design to discuss if it is different in facial expression recognition under neutral and negative emotional state. The second experiment based on the first experiment that took a 3(adjust strategies: inhibition of expression, cognitive reappraisal, no adjustment) × 3(identification expressions: happy, sad, calm) mixed experimental design to explore different emotion regulation strategies for being so affect facial expression recognition. Turn out:(1) The most easy to identify the facial expression of glee and the most difficult to identify the facial expression of sadness for general participants.(2) Negative emotion facial expression recognition significantly affected, With respect to the neutral group emotions, negative emotion group of subjects are easier to identify people’s facial expression of sadness, and the identification of calm and happy face expression a certain extent. It is longer for negative emotion group of subjects to identify expression.(3) Different emotion regulation strategies for the identified test expression influential, In the overall recognition speed and accuracy, cognitive reappraisal group better than the inhibition of the expression group and unregulated group.(4) Cognitive reappraisal can weakenthe subjects’ mood and induced inhibition of expression are inconsistent, there is no such expression inhibition effect.
