This article takes the sentence pattern “Chadianmei VP” in the modern Chinese as the research objective.Based on a number of living sentences in life and some kinds of research methods including semantic analysis,contrastive analysis,cognitional analysis,pragmatic analysis,corpus analysis and frequency statistics and so on,we made a concrete analysis of the sentence pattern“Chadianmei VP” from new angles and came to some conclusions that scholars didn’t point out before.For example,no matter this sentence pattern means positive or negative,the rates are both the highest among all of kinds when VP consist of verb-complement constructures.Besides,when this sentence pattern means positive and its VP consist of verb-complement constructures,those verb-complement constructures usually are composed of resultant and directional complements.Also,generally speaking,the meaning of this sentence pattern is negative when VP are prepositional phrases and some ingredients about “death”or similarly exaggerative ingredients.And they can be used to differentiate the affirmative and negative meanings.This article used the Conceptual Integration Theory to analyzed the forming mechanism of this sentence pattern.In addition,we revealed the value of “mei”in the sentences which are negative meanings.Its value is bidirectional denial and emphasis.At last,the article came up with some suggestions about the sentence pattern “Chadianmei VP”from the view of second language teaching in order to offer some help to teaching Chinese as a second language.
