Objectives: To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Delaware Social and Emotional Competency Scale. Methods: We translated the English version of Delaware Social and Emotional Competency Scale(DSECS) into Chinese, then we back translated it into English. 1864 participants(seventh grade, eighth grade, senior one, senior two) were recruited from 8 high schools in HuNan Province、GanSu province、ShangHai and HeNan province, the age was ranged from 12 to 18 years old. The boys were 903 and the girls were 961.After a month, we retested the DSECS with 189 participants of the whole sample. All the data were put into SPSS17.0 and the analyzed in SPSS17.0 and AMOS22.0,We tested the DSECS with exploratory factor analysis, coefficient and inter-item correlation coefficient. Then we examined the test-retest reliability of DSECS. We also tested the construct validity and concurrent validity of DSECS. At last we tested the four-factor model and Second-order model with confirmatory factor analysis.Results:(1)The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the total four grades sample was 0.78, the four subscales’ coefficient were ranged from 0.46 to 0.61, the total scale ’inter-item correlation coefficient were ranged from 0.12 to 0.75, the four subscales’ inter-item correlation coefficient were 0.16~0.75.(2)Four factors were identified in the exploratory factor analysis and the four factors can explain55.943% variances of the whole items.(3)The following five indices met the psychometrics standard in the confirmatory factor analysis: χ2/df=3.480;CFI=0.941;IFI=0.941;TLI=0.918;RESEA=0.046.Conclusion: The Chinese version of Delaware Social and Emotional Competency Scale(DSECS) basically met the Psychometrics standard and it is currently available as an evaluation tool for measuring social emotional competence valid assessment of Youth Social Emotional Competence.
