Reliability And Validity Of Chinese Version Of Delaware School Climate Surveys-student In Chinese Senior High School Students

Objectives:To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Delaware School Climate Survey-Student(DSCS-S).Methods:We translated the English version of Delaware School Climate Survey-Student(DSCS-S) into Chinese,then we back translated it into English. 1288 participants(senior one、senior two、senior three) were recruited from 4 senior high schools in Hunan Province,the age was ranged from 14 to 19 years old.The boys were 619 and the girls were 669.After a month,we retested the DSCS-S with 120 participants of the whole sample.We tested the DSCS-S with exploratory factor analysis 、 coefficient and inter-item correlation coefficient.Then we examined the test-retest reliability of DSCS-S.We also tested the construct validity and concurrent validity of DSCS-S.At last we tested the senven-factor model with confirmatory factor analysis.Results:(1)The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the total three grades sample was 0.90,the senven subscales’ coefficient were ranged from 0.60 to 0.93,the total scale’inter-item correlation coefficient were ranged from 0.12 to 0.75,the senven subscales’ inter-item correlation coefficient were 0.26~0.48、0.40~0.65、0.66~0.75、0.16~0.57、0.30~0.45、0.33~0.45、0.30~0.46.The correlation coefficient of the whole scale were ranged from 0.56 to 0.78 and the correlation coefficient among the senven factors were ranged from 0.17 to 0.55.(2)The whole scale’ test and retest reliability was 0.87 and the senven subscales’ test-retest reliability were ranged from 0.71 to 0.85.(3)Senven factors were identified in the exploratory factor analysis and the senven factors can explain 57.976% variances of the whole items.(4)The following five indices met the psychometrics standard in the confirmatory factor analysis:CFI=0.909;TLI=0.901;IFI=0.909;χ2/df=3.80;RESEA=0.047.(5)The bivariate pearson correlation and partial correlation showed that the score of the total scale and six subscales(except the Bullying School Subscale) were significantly negative correlation with the depression level of students’,the correlation coefficient were ranged from-0.83 to-0.72;the correlation coefficient between the depression level and Bullying School Subscale of students’ 、total score of Life satisfaction were 0.86 and-0.23~0.33.Conclusion:The Chinese version of Delaware School Climate Survey-Student(DSCS-S) met the Psychometrics standard and it is a reliable and valid assessment of senior high school climate.
