Alienation from school signifies the negative sense of powerlessness, isolation, meaninglessness, normlessness, and self-estrangement because of alienated students' relation to their learning, teachers, administrators, classmates, norms, and themselves. Even though alienated students are likely to have many negative outcomes, Chinese scholars pay little attention to alienation from school contemporarily.This paper introduces the concepts, constructs, outcomes of alienation, furthermore, it summarizes the concepts, constructs, measuring tools, outcomes of alienation from school.This research develops the Alienation from School Questionnaire for Senior High School Students, which consists of five categories:(a)powerlessness,(b)isolation,(c)meaninglessness,(d)normlessness, and(e)self-estrangement. As a whole, the questionnaire has good reliability and validity.That Alienation from School Questionnaire for Senior High School Students is used to investigate the status of the alienation from school of senior high school students in Shijiazhuang City. Results from this study showed:(a) key senior high school students' alienation from school, meaninglessness, and self-estrangement are significantly lower than common senior high school students' , (b)Grade-three and Grade-two high school students' alienation from school, powerlessness, meaninglessness, normlessness, and self-estrangement are significantly higher than Grade-one high school students'. Grade-one high school students' isolation is significantly higher than Grade-three and Grade-two high school students' , (c) boy students' alienation from school, isolation, normlessness, and self-estrangement are significantly higher than the girl students', (d)rural high school students' alienation from school, isolation, meaninglessness, and self-estrangement are significantly higher than city high school students'.This resarch gives five pieces of advice to alleviate the senior high school students' alienation from school : (a)establishing good school climates, (b)improving teacher-student relationships, (c)improving the teachers' teaching level, (d) establishing strong relationships with students' families to help students together, and (e) improving students ' resisting frustration characteristics.
