In the background of economic and trade globalization, it is necessary to know global economic and trade trends and China’s position in the global economic chain as well as the challenges or opportunities faced by China. This article analyzes the characteristics and summarizes the translation strategy of The Word Trade Report 2014, which has a certain practical significance. The World Trade Report 2014 is an official publication of the World Trade Organization, whose language is rather normal and professional. The report contains many specialized vocabularies and acronyms as well as many long and complicated sentences long and complicated which are difficult to translate. The translation practice guided by Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory which is to convey information and insists that translator has no need to be bounded by the original structure and form. Thus, flexible translation methods are adopted based on this principle. The methods cover word transformation, conceptual transformation, ellipsis and supplementary method. In syntactic level, methods like splitting, sequence, syntactic linearity and hysteron proteron etc are adopted. Through this translation practice, the author summarizes stylistic features of this kind of economic and trade report and concrete translation methods.
