The Study On Visual Identification System Of The Small And Medium-sized Cities

The continuous urban development promotes more and more concerns about the research and practice of city image design for large cities as well as characteristic cities. However, the small, medium-sized cities which account for the vast majority of total urban number are neglected. The theory research of city image design for small, medium-sized cities are deficient and unsystematic, meanwhile, the actual applications of city visual identification exist a lot of problems. Based on the above background, the author expects to enrich the theory research of city visual identification system for the small, medium-sized cities through this research, meanwhile, to provide a series of guides and thoughts for the design of city visual identification.This paper included four research parts. The first part summarized the basic theory of city visual identification system and provided theoretical support for this paper. The second part analyzed the major problem of city visual identification system for the small, medium-sized city, indicated the feasibility of city visual design which would be applied to the small, medium-sized city, combined with the real case to propose the appropriate principle and method of design. The third part was about the investigation and analysis of city visual identification system for Loudi, meanwhile, this part provided an improvement program for visual identification design of Loudi in the fields of urban color, sign, public transportation and facility. The last part was based on the real case and proposed some thoughts and suggestions for the common problems which existed in city visual identification system of small, medium-sized city. In order to promote the image development of small, medium-sized city, as well as provide feasible orientation for the city visual identification design in other small, medium-sized cities.
