With Digital Gold, Nathaniel Popper offers a brilliant and engrossing account of this new technology-one filled with dramatic booms and busts that have led to untold riches for some and prison terms for others.Nathaniel also describes how Bitcoin works and what it may look like in the future.This translation material includes introduction and chapter Ⅰ of this book.It is about the overall information of this book in introduction part, i.e. the three development stages of bitcoin.Based on the translation and reflections of whole process, translator produced this translation report.Translator gave some examples to show how to apply optimal relevance in translating EST. The report can be divided into three parts:The first part introduces the information of the author and book, information about the relevance theory as well as the practical purpose of translating this book.The second part is main body of the report, including three chapters:Chapter Ⅰ is the description of translation task, including task background and characteristics of task, i.e. polysemy, terminology and new compound words at lexical level; long sentences and related culture background at syntactic level and so on. Chapter Ⅰ also introduces arrangements made to carry out this translation task. ChapterⅡ describes translation process, including pre-translation preparation, i.e. determination of theory; translation procedures and post-translation issues, i.e. proofreading and revision.Translator also listed the focus of each phase.Chapter Ⅲ is case analysis, in this section, translator listsmain problems encountered and analyzes how to solve them in light of relevance theory at lexical, syntactical and textual level, and strategies adopted in translation process.The last part is the summary and reflection of the whole translation project, including some findings and enlightenment in the translation process.The main purpose of this translating task is to apply translation theories and skills into actual translation activities and to improve translator’s capacity in translation. |
