A Report On The Translation Of Overcoming Worry

Nowadays people generally suffer from worry to different extent due to huge pressure. This book introduces the experience of worry, points its active and negative influence on daily life as well as the means of treatment: Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Despite some professional knowledge on medicine and psychology in the book, it becomes readable when the authors explain worry by clinical cases. The style of words the authors adopted is formal and common simultaneously.The translator chose the first and the third chapter as translation task and completed the report according to its translation. The report is composed of three parts:The first part is introduction, including the basic information of Overcoming Worry such as backgrounds, authors, contents and its features. Meanwhile the translator also introduces the purpose of the report and its application value as well as practical significance on the progress of society.The second part is the main body of this report. It is divided into four chapters in detail. The first chapter is the task description, which contains the introduction to this task and the characteristics of the book. The second chapter is the description of the translation process. During translation, the translator has created a list of technical terms for efficiency. Finally proofreading is also a key step to improve translated texts. The third chapter is case analysis. In this part, the translator analyzes and summarizes the main problem in her practical translation process——translationese caused by misunderstanding, copying words’ meanings and grammatical structure. Addition, omission and conversion can be good techniques to solve this. The fourth chapter is the translation experience, which will sum up translation skills and her deficiency in translation.The third part is the conclusion. The translator has learnt a lot about worry through the translation. At the same time, bilingual ability also needs promoting via more practice and more reading. Enough carefulness and patience are still the keys to a good translator.
