| With the deepening of globalization, the international community is eager to master more specific information of China than ever. Culture as a carrier of soft power institutes a crucial tool for communicating with the rest of the world. However, the political building as an important part of Chinese traditional culture, especially the construction of building a clean government, is barely mentioned. If great efforts can be made to export this sort of culture, it will not only exhibit political wisdom of ancient Chinese, but also provide positive experience in the process of international communication on political building. The Lessons of Clean Governance in Chinese History mainly illustrates the construction of ancient Chinese political building, especially the design and development of ancient government institutions, bureaucratic systems and official titles. This thesis extracts the seventh episode of the Lessons of Clean Governance in Chinese History to undertake an interpreting practice. And it sets the performance of Chinese-English consecutive interpretation as an exact example in a bid to reproduce the whole process by way of enumerating, analyzing and noting down the problems.Considering the huge impact of the Lessons of Clean Governance in Chinese History on nowadays academic circles and domain of culture, especially for precise illustration of political systems and official titles, an eligible interpreter should make all-out efforts to take every possible elements into account and widely search and collect related materials, which is absolutely not a simple task to finish. On the basis of experience in the interpreting practice, this thesis will make a minute illustration and systematic summary of details like interpreting skills, providing a beneficial reference for Chinese-English consecutive interpreting in terms of TV documentary, academic exchange and political communication of this category.This thesis is comprised of three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. Its prime contents are as below:The first part is the introduction, including the background of research and the value of realistic meaning of the Lessons of Clean Governance in Chinese History.The second part is the principal body, which consists of three chapters:Chapter One primarily introduces the description of task. In this chapter, it firstly refers to the background of the Lessons of Clean Governance in Chinese History, then illustrates the abstraction of The Significance of System and excerpts of The Ruler of Laws and Decrees,and finally illustrates the common interpreting skills in interpreting tasks and requirements in the process of consecutive interpreting.Chapter Two focuses on description of the process. It analyzes the role of pre-preparation stage in the interpreting practice, including searching of background knowledge and collection of related materials. Then the author talks about the process of interpreting and quality control.Chapter Three zeroes in on the case analysis and exhibits concrete interpreting strategies:the application of syntactic linearity, liberal interpreting and shorthand method. At last, this chapter concentrates on the analysis of wrong interpretation and special interpreting strategies in case of special situations.The last part is the conclusion, which makes a total summary of previous statements and indicates the major purpose of the thesis, namely improving the quality of the interpretation.
