A Report On Consecutive Interpretation Practice In Baoding Huayue Rubber Belts Co., Ltd

As China’s external economy is becoming more and more active, an increasing number of Chinese enterprises conduct cooperation with foreign companies. This report describes one English-Chinese consecutive interpreting task completed by the interpreter. The task is about technical exchange and cooperation between Baoding Huayue Rubber Belts Co., Ltd and India Mica & Micanite Industries Limited in July, 2015. Based on this task, the report analyzes the interpreting of the speech delivered by the director of India Mica & Micanite Industries Limited, and it further discusses common difficulties of consecutive interpreting form English to Chinese as well as corresponding solving strategies and solutions.In the interpreting process, the report focuses on pre-interpreting preparation. The pre-interpreting preparation is divided into three phases according to time order, namely the early phrase, the middle-late phrase, and the temporary phrase. In each phase, the interpreter does different preparations.About typical examples, the report selects them for further analysis from three perspectives, and combines them with characteristics of interpreting task. The report describes the interpretation of the long and difficult sentences in the site, the analysis of hesitation, misinterpretation, correction and pretermission, and the interpretation for terminology.After description and analysis of the task, the report can be concluded into four points:(1) the interpreter should realize the important role of sufficient pre-interpreting preparation which directly determines the quality of the interpretation; (2) the interpreter should keep calm and try to cope with the accidents unhurriedly if the emergency situations happen in the interpreting site; (3) the interpreter should strive to improve professional quality and own professional ethics; (4) the interpreter should improve his interpreting level and form his own interpreting methods. Through this practice, the interpreter also hopes this report may enlighten interpreting enthusiasts, and promotes the development of interpreting activities.
