Adult Attachment,Gender Role Attitudes,Mate Selection Criteria And Their Relationships Of University Students

This study aims to researching adult attachment, gender role attitudes, mate selection criteria of university students and their relationship, using literature method to comb and discuss thoroughly, and then taking a random sampling from Heilongjiang University, Harbin Engineering University, Harbin Normal University and Heilongjiang University of science and technology of 600 undergraduate students by scales.The study found that male, female university students’ gender role attitude dimensions have differences. In social rights and obligations, ability qualities and representation, vocational interest and work, sexual intercourse and interaction exist significant differences, the attitude of male is more traditional than female,there was no significant difference in attachment avoidance and the two dimensions of attachment anxiety of male and female university students; male and female university students exist differences in mate selection criteria, in the dimension of social resources, which exists significant differences, girls pay more attention to the spouse’s share of the social resources, communication skills, personality, appearance dimensions exist significant differences, the boys pay more attention to paterners appearance. Adult attachment of university students, gender role attitude, mate selection criteria in grade exist significant differences. Different professional university students in gender role attitudes of social rights and obligations of dimensions exist significant differences, thesex role attitude of science students is more traditional than liberal arts students; students of different majors had significant differences in mate selection criteria of social resource dimensions in, liberal arts students pay more attention to the spouse’s social resources. Only children than non only child in terms of social rights and obligations of the concept of more traditional; non-only-children have less avoidant attachment and attachment anxiety than the only-children.Adult attachment can predict the attitude of gender role attitudes, gender role attitudes can predict mating standards. Sexual intercourse between attachment anxiety and social resources play a partial intermediary role, vocational interest and work intermediary role between attachment anxiety and social resources, sexual intercourse and interaction between attachment anxiety and appearance play a partial intermediary role and capability traits and performance in attachment avoidance and personality plays a partial mediating role.Based on the results of this study, we should pay more attention to the individual’s own gender role attitudes, in the future education, advocacy and other social process,in order to help the students to foster a more diversified choice, and to encourage individuals to better choice for their own spouse.
