As is known to us, Chinese is a tonal language in which the tones convey differences in meaning and are crucial to Chinese phonetics. Therefore, learning Chinese tones have always been regarded as the very important parts of Chinese Teaching. This thesis aims to explore that whether the pitch range errors from different language learners who learn Chinese have something in common and that how to remedy the pitch range errors. With the help of the previous researches, this thesis makes an analysis of tone-pattern and pitch range errors of Chinese learners of seven countries, Thailand, Vietnam, the United States, France, Russia, Japan and South Korea. Tone-pattern errors of Chinese learners from different countries have different characteristics, but they share the same characteristic of low and narrow pitch range. On this basis, this thesis explores the reason of pitch range errors, focusing on the aspects of negative transfer of mother tongue, teaching methods and learning attitude and environment through the way of practical teaching experiences and survey researches. According to the analysis of the reason and teaching experiences, this thesis comes up with a set of teaching strategies of improving the pitch range errors which have made some achievements in practical process, but whether it can really solve the problem remains to be further observed. Combined with the current condition that people heavily depend on the cellphone which provides a new clue for teaching of Chinese tones, this thesis combines phone and tone learning and designs a software of mobile phone. Because of the professional limit, at present the software mainly completed the preliminary design.
