In recent years, with China’s rising international status, more and more foreigners come to China to experience its extensive and profound culture. Tourist interpreting has played a crucial role in strengthening cultural exchange. So far Marshal Zhang’s Mansion has enjoyed great popularity in Shenyang with significant history and culture. The interpreter was entrusted by a Nigeria oversea student to do tourist interpreting for her. The practice is mainly to interpret the tour commentaries, which is the introduction to Marshal Zhang’s Mansion.Focusing on the compensation strategies in C-E tourist interpreting, this report analyzes the instructional influences of skopos theory on compensation strategies in C-E tourist interpreting. And then it sums up the three kinds of problems in the interpreting practice, which are shortage of extra-linguistic knowledge, incomplete information and over-loaded cultural information. In addition, the report discusses the purpose of interpreting and the application of compensation strategies in C-E tourist interpreting; furthermore, corresponding strategies are put forward, including reduction and generalization, explanation and amplification, and transliteration and literal translation. Finally, the writer reaches some conclusions that in order to better realize the communicative purpose of C-E tourist interpreting, interpreters should apply some strategies to compensate the original. Meanwhile, skopos theory can guide the application of compensation strategies in C-E tourist interpreting so as to ensure high efficiency of interpreting, which provides references for the application of compensation strategies in C-E tourist interpreting.
