A Study On Interpreting Strategies At The Press Conference Of The Foreign Ministry From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the development of economy and society,China's foreign exchanges have become more and more frequent.In recent years,China has continuously stepped up its participation in international affairs.Diplomatic interpreting plays an increasingly important role as an intercultural communicative activity.Also,the quality of diplomatic interpreting will have a significant impact on China's international image.On the basis of Skopos theory,this thesis makes an analysis of the Chinese-English interpreting at the press conference of the Foreign Ministry during the “two sessions” of NPC(The National People's Congress)and CPPCC(Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference)in 2017 and summarizes the strategies that the interpreter applied during the interpreting process.The strategies mainly include reconstruction,conversion,addition,omission and replacement.By adopting the corresponding strategy,the interpretation can be more in line with its language expression habits,so that the output contents can be understood by the listeners and the quality of interpreting will been enhanced to further promote international exchanges.
