With the continuous development of economy, politics, science and technology, and national defense,China has become a decisive force on the world stage, which puts forward higher requirements for enhancing cultural confidence.Rich and varied, sophisticated and profound,Chinese culture is well-established and can be traced back to ancient times. However, many Chinese traditional handicrafts have died out. Therefore,it's necessary to inherit and promote Chinese traditional handicrafts, which will not only enable people to value Chinese traditional handicrafts and enhance cultural confidence, but also enable Chinese culture to go global. In this way, more people can acquaint and cherish Chinese traditional handicrafts. This is a practice report on simulated Chinese-English consecutive interpreting based on the documentary Life Is a Belief. The documentary filmed more than ten groups of traditional handicrafts and century-old shops, which not only introduces the loss of traditional culture, but also shows the lives and beliefs of normal people.Apart from the differences in culture, logic, and values between Chinese and English. The instantaneity of interpretation, the specialization of vocabulary, and the colloquialism of language are factors that cause translation loss in different levels and degrees.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory, this practical report aims to study the translation loss in the process of interpretation and give compensation strategies through analyzing cases.By analyzing the practice recordings and transcribed texts of interpretation, this practical report summarizes three types of problems and puts forward four levels of translation compensation: lexical level, grammatical level, discourse level and cultural level. At present, there are few studies on the compensation strategies for the lack of interpretation in China.I hope that this practical report can arouse attention to translation loss in interpreting, and provide reference for the future study of compensation strategy in consecutive interpretation.
