A Study On The Social Morality Of The New Generation Of Migrant Workers

As the development of economy and society, the special group of migrant workers which is formed in the process of reform and opening has played an increasingly prominent role in urban construction and development, and the 80’s and 90’s new generation of migrants has not only become the main force, but also becomes a large community that can not be ignored in the city. However, due to the existence of the urban-rural gap and the strangeness, alienation and barrier between people in the city, the new generation of migrant workers must be inadaptable and confused of the identity. As a result of exclusion and unrecognized status, it leads the new generation of migrant workers instinctively resists social morality, which restricts its development and affects the process of urbanization as well.This article is based on the perspective of ethics, through the methods of literature research, interviews, case studies and comparative analysis, to objectively and accurately make a systematic analysis of the new generation of migrant workers’ social morality. First of all, it introduces the theoretical and realistic meaning of studying the new generation of migrant workers’ social morality while provides a brief literature review at home and abroad, which analyzes several research directions of the new generation of migrant workers in domestic and the research status of social morality at abroad and points out several innovative points.Secondly, through the elaboration of the related concepts about the new generation of migrant workers,the thesis starts with the objective reality to systematical analyze the main features of the new generation of migrant workers’ currently: relative independence, individual variation, and community’s stability, and to propose the significance of improving the new generation of migrant workers’ social morality, which not only facilitate its urbanization process, but also help to promote civil social morality, and more contribute to accelerate the pace of building harmonious society. Thirdly, from the five aspects of good manners, helping others, caring of public property, protecting environment and abiding by the law, it specifically explains the status of the new generation of migrant workers’ lacking of social morality, which lack of the awareness of social morality and have yet to be fully conscious to abide by social morality. The outstanding performance is speaking loudly in public places and swearing, callous and self-centered and omission of justice, vandalism and scribbling, dropping litter and wasting resources, breaking the law and participating in crime. Meanwhile, it makes an analysis of the causes in the views of social environment, government administration and individual. Finally, from the three points of institutional construction, social consensus and personal identity, it suggests the three effective ways of promoting the new generation of migrant workers’ social morality, namely: the society and the new generation of migrant workers themselves must work together in order to realize results. The first way is to establish scientific, rational and improved institution and policy; the second one is to form active, healthy and positive public opinion guidance; the third is to form an adaptation to the city of the individual qualities, accelerating the urbanization process, so that they can fully integrated with the modern city as soon as possible.
