The Practice Report Of Trimble AX80 Training Interpretation Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

As a report on English to Chinese consecutive interpreting, it describes one interpreting task that the author attended in March,2015, for Trimble AX80 training in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Airborne Remote Sensing and Mapping Institute. The AX80 is the newest mapping equipment of Trimble and the first is bought by the Institute. This report is to analyze the content under the guidance of Interpretive Theory.The task lasted three weeks. The first two weeks were the equipment training which was instructed by two foreign engineers, and the last week was the translation part which the author and other three interpreters translated the documents. The author introduces characteristics and demands of technical interpretation, the task, and Interpretive Theory, and uses them to analyze representative cases. Because of the profession and accuracy of the source language and the influence of other non-linguistic factors, there is a non-identity between the source language and the target language, which includes discussion, calculation and drawing. Through classifying, the author studies the cases respectively in three aspects:supplementary, listening and reading interpreting, and professional words and principle interpreting.Through analysis, the author reaches two conclusions:1. The profession of technical interpretation is difficult to interpret and it demands accuracy. So the interpreter should communicate with the speaker timely and interpret after completely understanding.2. The Interpretive Theory plays an important part in this report, and it is also valuable to other tasks. However, we should pay attention to its application, which is to interpret on the basis of source language when literal interpretation can not meet its purpose.The author combines Interpretive Theory with the task in order to explain and solve problems, to support the task, and to discuss the application of the theory. The author hopes to develop the use of Interpretive Theory in technical interpretation.
