The Hugo Awards are a set of awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year, organized and overseen by the World science fiction Society. They were first given in 1953, and have been awarded every year since 1955. Nowadays, It is universally acknowledged that as one of the most prestigious science fiction awards, the Hugo Awards have been termed as "among the highest honors bestowed in science fiction and fantasy writing".Over the years that the award has been given, the categories presented have changed; currently Hugo Awards are given in more than a dozen categories, and include both written and dramatic works of various types. Current categories include Best Novel, Best Novella, Best Novelette, Best Short Story and so on. In 2015, Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, a famous Chinese science fiction novelist, won Hugo Award for Best Novel. There is no denying the fact that it was a breaking news for not only science fiction fans but also all Chinese because it was the first time that Chinese novelist even Asian novelist won Hugo Award, which made the awards for science fiction fans only before into the public view.At present, a lot of the novels received Hugo Award for Best Novel had been published in China. These novels brought many changes to Chinese publish market. First, they brought large economic benefits for the publishers. Secondly, they gave the Chinese science fiction fans a better view, made them look into the world. On the one hand, more and more readers ware attracted by the world-class science fiction, which made the market of science fiction larger and larger. On the other hand, plenty of writers ware inspirited by these novels won Hugo Awards, threw them self into creating new science fictions.This paper considers the view of the copyright import situation of the novels received Hugo Award for Best Novel. It introduces the background of copyright business and the history of foreign science fiction publishing in China, does research of the general situation of the introdued novels won Hugo Awards. Next, based of classic examples and the statistics, this paper tries to look for the features and problems of imported ones, finding some inspiration for the market of science fictions.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter of the paper is introduction, including the study’s background, the study’s value, the research of the literature review and the innovation of the study.The second chapter presents the concept of book copyright import and the general situation of the book copyright import in China, including the history and the status. The history of the book copyright import falls into five stages:the Embryo Stage (the end of Qing Dynasty - AD 1949), the Stock Stage (1949-1978), the Recovery Stage (1978-1992), the Develop Stage (1992-2001) and the Boom Stage (2001-now). This chapter explains the reason why the history falls into five stages. What’s more, this chapter analyses the features of each stage. This chapter also presents the concept of science fiction and the general situation of science fictions’ copyright import in China, including the history and present situation. The general situation of importing science fictions can also fall into different stages. The import of science fiction dates back to the end of Qing Dynasty and the start of Republic of China. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, most of the foreign science fictions ware from the Soviet Union. After Chinese economic reform, science fiction had a brief development, but soon grounded to a standstill. Arrived 1990s, the science fiction had caused to prosper once again.The third chapter of the paper does a detailed research of the book copyright import of the novels received Hugo Award for Best Novel. To begin with this chapter provides the statistics that how many novels won Hugo Awards has published in China and how many has not published in China. Next, this chapter thinks that when these novels published and who ware the publishers.Finally, this chapter accounts the number of times of the imported novels. Depend on these data, this chapter presents the characteristics of the imported novels received Hugo Award for Best Novel. In the aspect of imported and published time, there are three characteristics:start late, develop slowly, rise sharply. The start of book copyright import of the novels received Hugo Award for Best Novel was really late. The develop was slow at initial stage. The impetus of rising was booming. These characteristics are related to the general situation of copyright import and the science fiction development in China. In the aspect of the subject, the publisher of the imported novels presents a clear structure named "one superpower and multi powers", which means that there are one powerful publisher focus on science fiction’s publishing, and plenty of effective publishers has science fiction’s series of books. In the aspect of object, the amount of imported novels received Hugo Award is huge, the republication becomes frequent and the serialization proves to be a kind of phenomenon.The fourth chapter of the paper selects two examples of the imported novels which won the Hugo Award for Best Novel. The three examples are the Foundation Series, and the Hyperion series. Based of the two examples, this chapter analyses the publisher’s marketing strategy. In this chapter, it is focused that the background of the books’ copyright import, the process of the books’copyright import and the influence of the books’ copyright import.The fifth chapter of the paper reveals that there are two problems in the procedure of importing science fictions which won the Hugo Award. First of all, First of all, the reader group of science fiction is small. In the next place, when importing, the book’s orientation was often ignored. This chapter also shows that there are two enlightenment in the procedure of importing science fictions which won the Hugo Award. The first is that the publisher should attach:importance to the new media. The second is that the publisher should pay attention to the brand making.
