This is a project report on English-Chinese Translation of Hamam Balkania which was written by Vladislav Bajac, a famous contemporary litterateur. The dual-clue model was applied in this novel to describe three characters including the author, Pasha and Sinan, which reflects the writer’s opinions on religion, beliefs and cultural identity as well as the historical course of Serbia. This novel has won a lot of international literary awards because of its special writing techniques and profound contents. This project report is selected from Chapter 26, Chapter 27 and Chapter 28 of Hamam Balkania, in which the author concentrates on the analysis of important and difficult points and discusses the application of various kinds of translation methods guided by the theory of Dynamic Equivalence put forward by Eugene A. Nida. In this project, the following four aspects are given high priority:the translation of proprietary vocabulary, the translation of short sentences, the translation of long sentences and the translation of words concerning history, culture and religion.Through this project, the author has deeply realized that a qualified translator should not only strengthen bilingual learning but also should learn knowledge in various areas, and shall persistently get his or her translation skills improved through translation practice. Therefore, the translation of this novel will stimulate cultural exchanges between China and Serbia, and provide a positive guidance for the literature translation.
