| Stop motion animation after hundreds of years of development has formed its own mature techniques, advanced production technology and unique artistic language. In the new century, the introduction of high-tech animation to bring new thinking in the aspect of material selection. The introduction of 3D printing technology for animation in model creation, camera switching, making the efficiency of new development and improvement. With the continuous improvement of the level of stop motion animation market share gradually increase and people appreciate, the stop motion animation of development must be self-breakthrough in high-tech and new forms based on fusion and constantly improve themselves and to open new glory for the development of Chinese animation.Therefore, in this paper, combined with the 3D printing technology is used to stop motion animation design and realization are studied and discussed, in based on the study of a large number of relevant literature and related to the film’s research and study, starting from the point of view of film art, realistic demand, combined with 3D printing technology and animation production principle, to a new form for domestic animation creation and implementation to provide an effective way to solve the problem.The application of 3D printing technology in the animation, the main research contents are as follows:(1) By the artistic view of overall planning to complete the film. Through the actual investigation, scientific and rational analysis, planning the form of animation and performance characteristics.(2) According to the related design, the three-dimensional printing technology is applied to realize the fixed frame animation. The results of this study will eventually achieve the preliminary conception, not only based on related technologies produced a stop motion animation works, but also of stop motion animation material selection are new attempt.
