The Research And Innovation Of Wood Carving Patterns Of Bai Nationality In Jianchuan

The wood carving of Bai nationality in Jianchuan dated back to Kingdom of Nanzhao and Kingdom of Dali. It had a history of one thousand years. Woodcarvers were skillful at carving patterns, such as a variety of figures, flowers, birds, landscapes,dragons, phoenix etc. These patterns were used to decorate doors, windows and furniture. Their crafts were also widely used in printing, the production of genealogy,scriptures and Jiama Paper etc.. As one representative of the ethnic wood carving crafts,the wood carving of Bai Nationality in Jianchuan has distinct national styles and strong local characteristics.Through on-the-spot investigations, consulting and collecting relevant literature and classical materials, the paper employs ideal graphical technology to carry out questionnaire survey and data analysis among audience who use the wood carving artworks of Bai nationality on the basis of the current researches. It analyzes the pattern characteristics of wood carving from decorative themes, rules of composition and design drafts and innovates the patterns of the wood carving based on kansei engineering. As a test of the inheritance and development of traditional pattern crafts in application methods, the paper uses design result psychology appraising theory to evaluate the results of new patterns and examines the operability of innovative effects and design methods and application, which, on the one hand, plays important roles in the arrangement and protection of local culture; on the other hand, explores a new development idea for the wood carving of Bai nationality under modern aesthetic semantic.This not only promotes the spread of the culture of Bai nationality, but accelerates local economic development. What’s more important, it provides a new thought and method for traditional craft and fine art through the analysis of the wood carving cases of Bai nationality.In terms of the development and inheritance of the traditional craft and fine art, this paper holds that people should adhere to the artistic connotation and cultural deposits of traditional art and retain its characteristic symbols, using modern design rules and modern aesthetics to inherit and innovate traditional art. Through scientific and strict data analysis, this paper verifies whether the visual symbols and design results are in accordance with the cultural deposits and market expectations of traditional art, which uses modern aesthetic semantics to express traditional styles in a real sense and maintains the vitality of traditional craft and fine art.
