Zhang Shizhao’s Logical Essay(1910-1912)

The paper is about the Logical Essay of Zhang Shizhao, mainly based on his work,from 1910 to 1912, on Minli Pao. The article analyzes the specific characteristics of Zhang Shizhao’s Logical Essay, explores the reason, why Zhang could be considered as the representative of the style.The first chapter analyzes the connection between the new concept Logical Essay and Logic, the new word and subject to Chinese in the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century. And its relationship with Yan Fu and Zhang Shizhao, especially their effect of the spread of Logic.In the second chapter, discusses the the basic characteristics of Logical Essay, based on the comparison, the use of Logic in Yan Fu and Zhang Shizhao’s text. The basic features:the translation words of Logic and theory of Logic are widely used in the text. Analysis of the influence of logic on the Zhang Shizhao article, show the new changes in the way of writing and argument after Zhang Shizhao returned from abroad in England.The third chapter:Under the background of politics in the end of the Qing Dynasty and early years of the Republic of China, points out the transformation of political prose style:logic and natural. And in this context, analyze the difference between Zhang Shizhao and contemporary political writer. Meanwhile, points out the spread of logic by Zhang Shizhao in the debate with others, answer why people think "logic" is Zhang’s feature.The fourth chapter is based on the personal experience of Zhang Shizhao, compared his thought and translation with Yan Fu, Liang Qichao, to find the individual reason of Zhang Shizhao, why he is the representative of Logical Essay.Appendix:proves some articles on Minli Pao is wrote by Zhang Shizhao, which the ZhangShiZhao corpora didn’t collect. Some articles is the base of the paper.
