The popular culture sprung up in a short period of time with rapid development and great influence. With more and more studies on popular culture in China, the translation of relevant books becomes necessary. This report is written based on the translation of Chapter 2 in a book entitled A History of Popular Culture: More of Everything, Faster and Brighter. This book introduces the rapid development and the integration of popular cultures in various nations and regions in nearly half a century. The chosen chapter is mainly a description of and comment on the popular culture during World War II and the early postwar period, and it is well worth translating for its substantial content, strict logic and formal language.The report consists of four parts, namely task description, process description, case study and conclusion. The first part mainly describes the source material, introduces the author, his works as well as the significance of the material. The second part includes pre-translation reading and analysis, consulting related materials, selecting translation strategies and auxiliary means, coping with difficulties, proofreading, polishing and finalizing the version. The third part, which is the key part of the report, analyzes the difficulties from the aspects of vocabulary, sentence and culture by means of case study. Appropriate translation skills are adopted for specific cases. The last part summarizes the experience and insight obtained from this practice, and endeavor for future translation work.
