This paper conducts qualitative analysis and comparative analysis of Chinese and Thailand corpuses, and studies the speech act of refusal in Chinese based on the speech act of refusal among Chinese and Thailand respondents, Chinese teaching syllabus and Chinese textbooks. Generally speaking, this paper consists of four chapter:The first part is the introduction part, from this article expatiates the origin, purpose and significance of topic selection, research status quo of Chinese refused to speech act and research, research methods and innovation points of this article, etc.Part 2 is an overview of the speech act of refusal in China. First, the meaning of the speech act of refusal is defined. Second, characteristics and categories of the speech act of refusal are introduced. This part provides the basis for the question setting and classification in the following questionnaire survey. Causes of choosing different refusal strategies are preliminary are classified and discussed, which lays the foundation for research into differences of Chinese learners in China and Thailand in terms of the speech act of refusal.Part 3 is an investigation and analysis of use situations of the speech act of refusal in Chinese. This part is the main part of this paper. Through statistical analysis of the valid results obtained from the questionnaire survey among Chinese and Thailand respondents, the author shows pragmatic errors and causes of these errors among Thailand Chinese learners in using the speech act of refusal. The differences found between Chinese and Thailand respondents are specifically pointed out through the comparative analysis of Chinese and Thailand corpuses. The investigation and analysis results in this paper serve as the data source for the teaching syllabus and textbook compilation.Part 4 adopts Chinese Teaching Syllabus for International Students in Chinese Universities and Colleges(for Long-term Education)(hereinafter referred to as the “Syllabus”) as a research object. The refusal functional items in the Syllabus are studied. First, function and functional item are defined. Second, the refusal functional items in the Syllabus are investigated, and suggestions are offered based on the above investigation and analysis results. And second part is studies Chinese teaching textbooks used in China and Thailand. Based on the research results of the questionnaire survey and about the refusal functional items in the Syllabus, the author explores problems existing in the textbook, and provides proper suggestions for textbook compilation and teaching method improvement. It is hoped that these suggestions can better guide Thailand Chinese learners to learn the speech act of refusal.
