Traditionally metaphor is viewed as a rhetorical skill used as anornament to language,so it is just the object of rhetoric、literature andstylistics research. According to contemporary cognitive linguistics,metaphor is not just a rhetorical phenomenon of language, but also apowerful tool by which human beings understand and convey abstractconcepts. What more important is that it is a cognitive phenomenon and theway of thinking.Locution phrase is the hyponym conception of idiom, and it is widelyused in our daily life. Be different from other idioms, it retains its originalmeaning and is used in our articles and people’s daily life with a strong senseof spoken language.Traditional linguistics thinks that idioms are not predictable in semantic,and in the syntax, it can’t be analyzed because its internal structure is the fixformat, the combination of idioms and meaning is arbitrary. However manyidioms meaning produced from people’s cognitive structure, it has a lot ofsystem concept evidences. The body idioms also exist many cognitivemeanings as an important part of the phrases.This paper will explore the mechanism of body idioms in Korean andChinese with the perspective of the cognitive linguistics on the base ofanalysis of the difference in semantic, which use the main reference of Hanyu Guanyongyu Cidian、Hanhan Yanyu Guanyongyu Chengyu Xiaocidian and aKorean website(http://dic.naver.com). And we find that most body idiomsare metonymy in many verb/object phrases and subject-predicate structures;however the attribute-adjective constructions are metaphor. The reasons ofthis phenomenon are that metaphor is related to the similarities between twosimilar things, and metonymy usually respects an action or a thing.In addition, this paper will discuss some useful methods about teachingChinese as a foreign language about body idioms by comparing the bodyidioms in, and it designs picture correlation method which used in metaphor,and the situation teaching method and embodied mind teaching methodwhich used in metonymy and in the cognitive difference between Korean andChinese.
