| Liuqin used to be an accompaniment musical instrument for traditional opera in the south of Shandong and the north of Suzhou. The playing techniques in early days were rather simple and the musical structure traditional. In late 1950 s, Mr. Wang Huiran transformed Liuqin into a solo instrument and created a lot of musical compositions which are still quite popular right now. In 1980 s and 1990 s, with the emerging of Taiwan works, new elements were added in Liuqin music works and a unique art form was created.Based on Taiwan Liuqin music works the Garden after Rain, Starry Night and Cat’s Song without Words, this thesis makes an analysis on the musical structure,emotional expression and playing techniques and conducts an in-depth discussion and research on intention, emotional change and technical innovation. While giving a general picture of the style and characters of Taiwan Liuqin music works, the author also does a research on the development trend.As the learner and player of these three music works, the author has an in-depth understanding during practice. It is the hope that this thesis will provide more perspectives and reference for the creation and development of Liuqin music. |
