This practice report is based on the consecutive interpreting simulation of Zhang Qigang’s speech on the 10 th anniversary ceremony of Zhonggang Foreign Language School.The report focuses on problems and problem-solving solutions by combining the theory with abundant examples in the practice. The source text has two characteristics: complex logical relationship and many Chinese culture words included. As to the complex logical relationship, the author points out that the interpreters should focus on logical analysis of the overall meaning of the source text and use transitional words. As to the interpretation of Chinese culture words, the author points out that the interpreters should use the solution of paraphrasing and study relevant material in advance. With regard to the memory deficiency problem in the interpreting practice, the author shares several corresponding interpreting solutions, including studying Gile’s Effort Model and Theory of Sense, establishing an effective symbol system, and enhancing note-taking and memory skills. Through the interpreting task, the author has mastered some related knowledge and solutions.The author hopes that the experience and approaches explored in the report will help interpreters improve their comprehension of source text and present a successful performance in the future.
