Being the most basic expression and the most common sign of culture, human names express namer’s national religion, values, aesthetics, thinking mode, beautiful wishes and so on. Furthermore, the meaning and significance of human names also reflects the social history, politics and cultural concept at that time. Therefore, on the basis of the first hand information (36055 names from1913 to 2015), offered by the Population and family planning bureau of Xinbaerhuyouqi, which is divided into five period, before liberation(1913-1948), after liberation (1949-1965), the "cultural revolution" (1966-1976), reform and opening up (1978-2000) and the new century (2001-2015), this paper establishes a database of Mongolian names from Xinbaerhuyouqi, in the way of analyzing the gender, date of birth, etymology and semantic structure of 16563 Mongolian names selected by sampling survey. In the end, this paper states the variation characteristics of Mongolian names from Xinbaerhuyouqi in different period of time.This paper consists of prolegomena, main body (including chapterl,chapter2and chapter3) and conclusion. Prolegomena mainly introduces the motivation of selecting the topic, the object, method, contents and purpose of the research, data source and the research situation. The first chapter is a summary of dividing the Mongolian historical and cultural environment and names into five period of time. Chapter 2 states the general situation of development of Mongolian names from Xinbaerhuyouqi during 1913s to 2015s. Analyzing the five period of time in the use of statistics law, this paper come to a conclusion:on one hand, the number of Chinese name is growing while the number of Mongolian name is reducing, the Tibetan names are disappearing from the perspective of etymology, on the other hand, the number of Mongolian name with Chinese first name is gradually increasing from the perspective of structure. From the perspective of Cross-cultural communication, chapter 3 analyzes the impact that Chinese culture, Tibetan culture, Manchu culture and other national culture from different area of China had on the variation characteristics of Mongolian names from Xinbaerhuyouqi.This paper makes use of statistics law to explain the general situation of each period of time and then uses comparison method to state the characteristics of names from every period of time. Finally, analyzing the content of the literature, this paper explores the historical and cultural conditions and reasons in which the names from each period are formed.
