Secondary vocational school students is in the exploration stage in Super career psychological development stage theoery. Because of development characteristics and external factors, They will experience all kinds of setbacks, challenges and changes in the career development process. That often leads to varying degrees and types of career decision-making difficulties.This study explores the relationship between parenting styles and occupation decision-making difficulties of secondary vocational students. Selected 330 students of Shanghai Yifu secondary vocational school. Respectively from grade one or grade two. The questionnaire is “occupation decision-making difficulties questionnaire” by xiying Li of Southwestern University in 2006 to measuring the students’ occupation decision-making difficulties. The questionnaire consists of three dimensions respectively lack of preparation, lack of information and inconsistent information and lack of motivation, hesitation, irrational beliefs, lack of knowledge in the decision-making process, lack of self information, lack of professional information, lack of access to information, not reliable information, internal and external conflicts ten small dimensions. “Parenting style questionnaire” by J.R-Buri in 1991 was used to assess students’ perception of parenting style. The questionnaire is divided into six parts, mother authoritarian, mother authoritative, mother permissive, father authoritarian, father authoritative, father permissive. The results obtained the following.(1)Date report of secondary vocational school students’ mother authoritarian is higher level. The boy’s father and mother authoritarian scores significantly higher than girls reported results. Date report of Shanghai resident vocational students mother authoritative level is significantly higher than the reporte of foreign accounts results. Different education level of parenting styles in six dimensions have reached significant difference.(2)Secondary vocational students occupation decision-making difficulties overall in the middle level, the lack of information and undecided are higher. There are significant differences in the gender, grade, whether one-child.(3)There are significant correlation between parenting styles and occupation decision-making difficulties.(4)Parenting styles have some predict to decision-making difficulties of vocational students. Father authoritarian, father permissive, and mother permissive can positively predict of secondary vocational school students lack of motivation level. The mother authoritarian can positively predicte secondary vocational indecision level. Father authoritarian and mother permissive can positively predict external conflict, the father permissive can negative predict the external conflict.
