This is a project report on the translation of Blood, Bread, and Poetry:(he Location of the Poet and Notes Toward a Politics of Location selected from Arts of the Possible, which are written by a famous contemporary American female writer Adrienne Rich. These two proses mainly express the author’s hope for the establishment of a peaceful world in which gender equality should be advocated. In her eyes, the personal is intertwined with the political. She hopes poetry can serve as a powerful medium for people to fight against social inequality and injustice in a suppressing and turbulent political environment.In recent years, with the rise of feminism, more and more Chinese women have taken part in the feminist struggle. They are eager to seize the equal opportunity to quest for their own identities. So translating these two prose writings into Chinese can help to introduce the ideas of western theorist so as to promote the development of the feminist movement in China. From this point, this translation work is realistically meaningful.As far as translation is concerned, the author sets forth how to deal with the translation difficulties that appear during the translation process and discuss corresponding solutions by using some translation strategies and methods. By finding keys to those problems, the author gets some inspirations and also learns some lessons under the guidance of the three rules of Skopos Theory. Undoubtedly, it will turn out to be useful experiences for author’s future translation practice. Based on the discussion of these translation difficulties and analyses of specific cases, the author has obtained the following enlightenments:before translation is conducted, translators must fully grasp the background information related to the original texts so as to help avoid misunderstanding. When translation is really started, translators should be adept in utilizing dictionaries, internet and other tools to convey the original style of these two proses. After the first translation is completed, translators should read through the translation version and do proofreading for many times in order to secure the high quality of translation.
