As a language and culture communication activity. International Chinese Language Education needs to make full use of the power of various mass media to have a significant impact in the world scope. Now is the era of new media. Various new media means emerge endlessly, and change constantly. Only fully understand the operation principles and the propagation rules of each type of media can we properly use various media to carry out International Chinese Language Education, and to obtain the best communication effect.This thesis analyzes the modes of transmission of each medium and the relationship between media and audience by using communication theories and media analysis principles. Through the analysis, this thesis clarifies the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of each medium, points out the matters needing attention in selecting and using media, puts forward some methods of making full use of the advantage of media. This thesis is divided into the following six sections:The first chapter is introduction, introducing the origin, significance, object and methods of the research, and reviews the current status of researches on this subject.The second chapter introduces the current situation of the development of International Chinese Language Education and then analyzes International Chinese Language Education from the perspective of communication. International Chinese Language Education is a language and culture communication activity, which can be classified into three categories:interpersonal communication, organizational communication and mass communication. Then this thesis uses Lasswell’s "5W" mode to analyze the Communicator, Message, Media, Audience, Effect of International Chinese Language Education respectively.The third chapter introduces some media analysis principles and investigates the application situation of print media, electronic media, network media and mobile media in the International Chinese Language Education. The mass media, especially textbook, radio, television and the Internet have become the most important means for our country to carry out International Chinese Language Education.The fourth chapter takes textbook and radio for an example, and analyzes the transmission modes of media. Each medium has its own unique mode of transmission, which will influence the communication effect of Chinese language and the learning effect of Chinese learners. Graphic communication and delay communication make Chinese textbook very selective and controllable. But they also bring some disadvantages to textbook such as easy to be given up or easy to be out of date. Aural communication and linear communication make Radio vivid, sensible, and wide coverage. At the same time they make it uncontrolled and lack of visual intuitive. Based on this, the thesis comes up with some practical measures on how to use textbook and radio to spread Chinese language reasonably and adequately.The fifth chapter analyzes the interaction between the media and the audience. Textbook, radio, television and other traditional media don’t have communication function, so the interaction between audience and these traditional media is not as convenient and quick as the Internet. However, they both have the following problems: lack of real interaction, insufficient of interaction, single interaction form and so on. So this thesis comes up with some suggestions on how to increase interaction with audience, such as integrating various media and broadening interactive channels.The sixth chapter summarizes the main content of this study and further puts forward the suggestions that optimize the contents of communication of International Chinese Language Education and improve the media literacy of international Chinese Language Education workers.
