With the prosperity of the Chinese language education in Thailand, more and more textbooks for the Chinese language teaching have emerged. From 2013 to 2015,Chinese education in Thai vocational schools has undergone some reforms. Therefore,the textbook "Chinese for Communication" came into being in the wave of reform. The emergence of new textbooks has brought about enormous impact on the Chinese language education in Thai vocational schools.Serving as a bridge, textbooks link students with the teacher together. A scientific and proper textbook will be able to yield more results with less effort. Therefore, the thesis takes the textbook "Chinese for Communication" as the main research object. It makes investigation and research on the actual use of the textbook in three public vocational schools in Lop Buri, Thailand. Through feedback on the use of textbook from Chinese volunteer teachers and students in these three public vocational schools,pros and cons in practical use are analyzed, thus some improvements to the textbook are proposed from various perspectives.Chapter 1 is the preface, which outlines the changes in Chinese education in Thai vocational schools for the past two years. It puts emphasis on expounding the thesis’ s research methods and the significance of its study on the new textbook "Chinese for Communication". Also by reference to textbook appraisal theories and research findings in Thailand, it makes full theoretical preparations for the textbook research.Chapter 2 is on Chinese teaching in Thailand. To take three public vocational schools in Lop Buri for example, the thesis will do a comprehensive analysis of Chinese teaching in the aspects of each school’s Chinese teaching history, teachers’ composition,textbook configuration, user groups, amount of teaching hours and so on. Since these three schools adopt the textbook "Communicate in Chinese", so its tenure of use, scope for application and background of use with other aspects are expounded in detail.According to the content of "Chinese for Communication", Chapter 3 firstly is to make an overall analysis of teaching objects, compiling principals, compiling targets and textbook style, then do a partial analysis of texts, new words, notes, culture andexercises, and finally make a comparative analysis of between the content of textbook and teaching targets.Chapter 4 is on the investigation and analysis of "Chinese for Communication" and its application. Firstly, design questionnaire correspondingly, and define the respondents with methods of data gathering, then according to questionnaire and interview survey make sheets, process statistical data, finally summarize the pros and cons of the textbook in actual use. From the practical point of view, in terms of research on the textbook’s use Chapter 4 is to supplement and improve the objective analysis of textbook stated in Chapter 3.Chapter 5 is on proposals for improving the use of textbook "Chinese for Communication". On the one hand, based on the feedback findings from teachers and students it makes suggestions for improving various parts of the textbook. On the other hand, combined with the particularities of Chinese volunteer teachers, it aims to put forward detailed teaching strategies and tactics in the aspects of interpreting textbook,applying textbook, innovating textbook and surpassing textbook.
