C-E Simultaneous Interpretation Of The Rise Of Great Powers In Light Of Skopos Theory

In light of Skopos theory, this thesis focuses on the analysis of the strategies used in the C-E interpretation of the twelfth episode of the documentary of the Rise of Great Powers. In Skopos theory,translation/interpretation is a purposeful action. There are three principles in this theory, which are the skopos rule, the coherence rule, and the fidelity rule,among which the skopos rule is the most important one. In order to meet the skopos, the interpreter should use different strategies during the interpretation. The thesis focuses on the study of C-E interpretation and divides the interpretation into literal interpretation, free translation, simplifying translation and integrated translation, with examples respectively.The thesis analyses the application of these strategies during the C-E interpretation of the twelfth episode of the Rise of Great Powers, in the hope of providing some reference for the future C-E interpretations.
