Cultural trade as the inevitable result of economic era based on knowledge industry and driven by culture has caused wide attention around the world with its vigorous development. The economic pattern in which cultural creativity creates economic value is forming. Cultural creative industry has become one of the most important economic engine in some developed countries. However, there are still many problems and difficulties during the development of cultural trade in our country. Therefore,it’s becoming top priority to study its status and factors of international competitiveness for the government and companies.Firstly,the thesis defines several related concept. Secondly,the thesis introduces the overall status and problems from three aspects--trade scale,export structure and geographic directions etc. Then,the paper analyzes the international competitiveness of cultural trade to find its advantages and disadvantages by using IMS,RCA and TC index and study its factors such as production elements,demand conditions, related and supporting industries,enterprise strategy and competition,the government behavior and foreign elements on the basis of diamond model theory. Then the thesis goes on the empirical study using principal component analysis(PCA)to determine the influence direction and degree of each factor of cultural trade competitiveness. Finally based on the theoretical analysis and empirical research conclusion the thesis gives some suggestions for raising competitiveness: prior to the development of film and television media and publications to enhance the competitiveness of core cultural products; advocate investment model diversification to increase financial support for cultural industry; change the target market to strengthen the cultural trade with Japan and South Korea and southeast Asia; Broaden the overseas marketing channels and reduce cultural discount; unify discipline plan and foster cultural creative industry talents.
